It was a heartbreaking defeat for Pirates basketball on Saturday at the Ketcham Community Center. Southwestern CC sank a long range three at the buzzer to defeat NCMC 73-72 in front of the packed home crowd. With the loss, the Pirates are now 4-4 ahead of a road contest with John Wood CC on Tuesday.
Freshman Isaiah Reams paced the Pirates scoring with 25 points on 9-15 shooting. He knocked in 3 of 6 from behind the arc. Also in double figures were Gerald Gittens with 12 points and Sterling DeSha with 11. Dampier Evans controlled the glass for the Pirates, pulling down a game high 10 rebounds. As a team, NCMC shot 38.6% from the field.
