Pirates Take Down 15th Ranked Moberly Area, United Prep In Orscheln Classic

Pirate's basketball swept a pair of games in the Orscheln Classic hosted by Moberly Area CC over the weekend.  On Friday, NCMC got the best of United Prep by the final score of 98-80.  Saturday, Coach Esry's squad upset the host and the NJCAA DI's 15th ranked team 77-75.  With the wins, NCMC is now 3-0 to start the season with their next action coming on Friday the 11th against Link Year Prep at the KCKCC Classic.

 

Against United Prep, the Pirates were led by a 27-point effort from freshman Carlton Thomas.  He also pulled down an impressive 23 rebounds in the win.  The Pirates as a team shot 40.5% in the game.

 

In the upset of Moberly Area, Thomas again was the standard-bearer for scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 18 boards.  Off the bench, Nelson Reynolds also poured in 17 points with all but two coming from behind the arc.  He shot 5-11 from deep including some clutch 3's down the stretch.  Guards Isaiah Reams and Kam Bevel each chipped in 12 points in the NCMC victory.
