Pirates Win Despite Long Range Shooting Woes

Pirates basketball took care of business Tuesday night as they downed Central Methodist University JV 88-66 to improve their record to 8-9 for the season.  Next up will be a home matchup with Peru State College JV on Thursday with a 6:00pm tipoff.  This will be the team's final tune-up before Saturday's homecoming game against Ellsworth Community College.

NCMC's season leading scorer Isaiah Ervin led the way with a game high 21 points including a stellar 6-7 from the charity stripe.  Also in double figures was sophomore Kolten Griffin with 15 points.  As a team, the Pirates struggled from long range and were only able to knock in 4-28 from beyond the arc.

A strong defensive effort helped key the Pirates victory.  They held the visiting Eagles to 37.9% shooting and forced 20 turnovers.
