Pirates basketball took a 76-71 road loss to Metropolitan CC on Saturday to open NJCAA Region 16 play. The team rebounded Monday with a resounding 118-70 victory over Missouri Valley College JV to improve their season record to 7-9.
In Saturday's loss, the team held a 35-31 halftime lead but couldn't seal the victory down the stretch. NCMC will look to avenge the defeat on Saturday, February 5th when they host the Wolves in the 'White Out' game in the Ketcham Community Center.
Points were aplenty on Monday for the Pirates. Kolten Griffin led all scorers with 21 points while also pulling down 13 rebounds. Five other NCMC players reached double figures for a potent and balanced attack.
Next up for Coach Esry's squad will be a road Region 16 matchup with St. Louis CC on Saturday. Tipoff for the game is set for 3:00pm.
