Slow Start Dooms Pirates At KCKCC

Pirates basketball took an 82-70 road defeat Monday when they traveled to Kansas City Kansas CC.  With the loss, the team holds a record of 6-8 with a NJCAA Region 16 matchup at Metropolitan CC looming this Saturday.  This will be the team's first of four region matchups.

A slow start doomed the Pirates as they were playing catch up all night at KCK.  The Blue Devils opened the game on an 18-0 run which had NCMC fighting to comeback all night.  By halftime, the Pirates had cut the deficit in half, 45-37, but could not complete the comeback in the second half.

Leading the scoring for NCMC was Isaiah Ervin with 29 points.  He is now averaging 19.2 ppg game for the season.  No other Pirates were able to must double digit points against a solid KCK defense.
