Pirates Split Indian Hills Classic Matchups

Men's basketball split their games over the weekend in the Indian Hills Classic to move their overall record to 5-4.  On Friday, NCMC came out on the losing end of a 92-88 score against NJCAA DII #1 ranked Kirkwood Community College.  Saturday, the Pirates rebounded to pull out an 85-77 overtime victory over McCook Community College.

In the Kirkwood loss, freshman Isaiah Ervin paced the Pirates with his game high 32 points.  Sterling DeSha added 17 points of his own but it was not enough to defeat the balanced attack from Kirkwood.  The Eagles had 11 players score in the game, led by Blake Brinkmeyer's 22 points.

NCMC out-scored the McCook CC 13-5 in overtime to pick up the win on Saturday.  The Pirate's bench scoring proved the difference in the game, besting McCook 39-14 in that facet.  Leading that charge was Gerald Gittens with 20 points, a team high.

Next up for NCMC is a road matchup at #17 ranked John Wood Community College on Tuesday.
