An alley-oop dunk with two seconds left broke a 72-72 tie, lifting North Central Missouri College over Southeast Community College on Tuesday.  The deciding play, a staple in the NCMC bag of tricks, has possibly never been quite as exciting as sealing the victory.  The win pushed the top ranked Pirates record to 18-1 overall.

It was SCC that took a lead early and maintained that lead for the majority of the game.  The Storm led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but NCMC fought back and finally took their first lead of the game with 59 seconds left.  The game was tied at 70-70 and then again at 72-72 before the dramatic finish.  The resiliency the Pirates showed in the contest surely is something that will only aid them in their chase for a national title.

Both teams struggled to score from behind the arc in the game.  The Storm 1 of 15 from behind the three point line and NCMC wasn't much better, going 2 of 16.  The Pirates will look to improve that shooting in their next contest, a homecoming matchup with Region XVI foe St. Louis Community College, on Saturday.
