Pirates Take The Win Of Highly Ranked Foes

#1 ranked NCMC men's basketball again took down a highly ranked, #5 Johnson County Community College, team on Monday.  The final score of the contest was 71-58 and marked the second time this season the Pirates have bested the Cavaliers.  In December, the Pirates toppled the then #1 ranked JCCC squad to assert their standing in the NJCAA Division II landscape.  The Pirates have held the top ranking in the poll since December 16th.

Scoring for the Pirates shows the team's truly balanced attack.   Contributions were made up and down the lineup on Monday.  Marty Jackson scored 16 points to lead the way and Rayonte Childs put up 13 points to provide a spark off the bench.  His disruptive defense, including three steals, proved to be a big contribution to the win.

Here are Coach Jeremy Esry's comments following the win.

Next up will be the homecoming matchup on Wednesday with Metropolitan Community College.  The game will also mark the start of NJCAA Region XVI play for the Pirates.
