NCMC men's basketball, ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA DII poll, improved to 15-1 with a 22-point victory Monday night over Kansas City Kansas Community College. The 97-75 win comes ahead of a Saturday home showdown with 5th ranked Johnson County Community College. The Pirates bested the Cavaliers on the road earlier in the season 91-79. At that point, it was Johnson County who held the nation's top spot.
"Hats off to KCKCC, they were really well coached and played extremely hard which made us work for everything last night," commented Coach Esry. "I thought our guys did a great job of competing and adjusting to all of the different defenses that they threw at us. We stayed aggressive, especially in the second half. This game definitely made us better and helped prepare us for a tough second semester schedule. Now we set our attention to a rematch with a really good JCCC team."
Tipoff for the men's game on Saturday at the Ketcham Center is set for 4:00pm.
