The NCMC Pirates high speed pace paid off on Saturday as the defeated Southeast Community College 110-87.  With the win, Coach Esry's squad is now 9-1 on the season ahead of a major matchup with perennial power John Wood Community College.  The Blazers were ranked 14th in the national preseason poll but have gotten off to a slow 2-7 start to the season.

Saturday against Southeast CC, the Pirates jumped on top early in the game with their highflying style.  By halftime, it was a 66-40 lead.  Southeast did fight valiantly in the second half, outscoring NCMC 47-44 but it was not enough in the come from behind bid.

Six Pirates scored in double figures, led by sophomores Marty Jackson (24pts) and Quinan Rieves (20pts).  Rieves also controlled the glass nicely, pulling down 11 rebounds for the double-double.
