Pirates Fly High Over In Homecoming Win

Pirates Basketball jumped on top of Missouri Valley College JV for Homecoming and never looked back as they defeated the Vikings 93-73.  With the win, the Pirates will carry an 11-10 record on the road Saturday when they take on Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City.  NCMC will look to improve their Region 16 record to 2-1 and sweep the Wolves for the season series.

From the tip-off, the Pirates were flying high.  To start the game, the Pirates ran their infamous alley-oop play to sophomore Jordan Reece, who threw it down with authority.  From that point forward, the Pirates never relinquished the lead and held a 51-23 advantage at the half.

During halftime, NCMC held their Homecoming Court festivities.  Sophomores Pharon Pilgrim and Jamee Scearce were crowned King and Queen for the 2018-19 year.  Pilgrim is a current member of the NCMC Baseball team and Scearce is the Student Senate President.

"We played really well for the first 30 minutes.  We got a little sloppy at the end, but that can be expected with a very large lead," commented Coach Esry after the game.  With the contest never in doubt, fans could certainly tell the Pirates were enjoying the night with multiple dunks to keep the crowd engaged.
