35-Point Victory For Pirates To Open Region 16 Play

Region 16 play opened nicely for Pirates Basketball.  Their 110-75 victory over Metropolitan Community College at the Ketcham Community Center was an impressive display.  With the win, the Pirates overall record now sits at 9-8.

The game was a solid effort throughout for Coach Esry's squad.  "It was nice to see what we could do with 40 minutes of consistency.  We have talked a lot lately about attitude and energy and the guys for sure brought that last night.  Hopefully we can build off of it; now we prepare for a very tough and very well coached North Arkansas team on Saturday," commented Esry.

Points were easy to come by for the Pirates who had four players in double figures.  Leading the way was sophomore Jordan Reece who totaled 18 points off the bench.  Other Pirates top scorers were Soloman Thomas (16 pts), Marty Jackson (15pts), and Quinan Rieves (14 pts).

The Pirates took a 13-point lead to halftime and quickly pushed the advantage further in the second half.  When all was said and done, the 35-point victory was a great way to start region play.
