Pirates Split Pair Of Weekend Games

NCMC Men's Basketball split a pair of games over the weekend.  On Friday, the Pirates defeated Labette Community College 74-71.  The win avenged an earlier season loss.  However, on Saturday the Pirates could not pull out a victory against Hesston College, falling 92-86.  The team's overall record now sits at 7-5 ahead of a home clash with Johnson County Community College on Wednesday.

"We experienced a lot of highs and lows this past weekend at Labette Community College.  Friday, we came out with a lot of energy and performed one of our better games of the year.  The guys seemed to really be clicking offensively and we made some great plays down the stretch in clutch time to seal a win.  Saturday was a different story and we just did not bring the effort or attention to detail that we needed to bring to get the win.  We had a lot of uncharacteristic errors and could not stay focused on controlling the controllable; we let a lot of outside forces affect us.  Overall, I think we got better and learned a lot about ourselves and what we need to continue to improve on," commented Coach Esry of his team's efforts.

Soloman Thomas continued his excellent play in Friday's game against Labette.  He totaled 20 points to lead the way in the win.  Jordan Reece topped the scoring for the Pirates in the loss to Hesston with 21 points.
