Pirates Men's Basketball kicked their 2018-19 season off with a bang last night at the Ketchum Community Center. The Pirates defeated Graceland University JV 113-66 to start the season off 1-0. Next up for Coach Esry's squad will be a road trip to take on John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL on Saturday.
The game opened for the Pirates with an alley-oop to sophomore Jordan Reece. That opening play summed up the night for NCMC as they flew past Graceland JV. The athleticism that the Pirates put on the court could not be matched by the Yellowjackets. The Pirates pushed their lead to 55-29 at the half and never looked back.
Of note in the game was the large student section wearing blue instead of their usual red and black. The fans, led by the NCMC basketball players who wished to help Coach Esry pay tribute to his recently deceased father, wore blue to help raise awareness for colon cancer.
