Pirates Fall To North Arkansas 85-71 In Season Finale

Pirate's basketball lost 85-71 Saturday on the road to North Arkansas College.  The loss snaps an eight game winning streak and closes out the regular season record at 18-9.

"This was just an all-around lackluster and disappointing game for us. I felt like we got out played and out coached. Our energy and effort was nowhere close to where it had been in our previous games.  We have to figure out the reasons to get back to how we know we can play and compete," remarked a disappointed Coach Esry of his team's performance.

Demetrius Houston Jr. led the scoring for the Pirates with 18 points.

"On a positive note, St. Louis beat Penn Valley Saturday which clinched us a share of the regular season Region 16 title. I'm proud of the guys for how they bought into the challenge and responded to a tough region schedule," noted Esry.

Next up for the Pirates is the opening round of the Region 16 tournament.  St. Louis Community College will be the first opponent with the game to be played Thursday, March 2nd at 8:00pm.  All tournament games will be played on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO.
