Road Win Narrowly Eludes The Pirates

The Pirates went on the road Wednesday night and lost a nail bitter with Southeast Community College 86-84. Coach Esry's squad led 42-40 at the half and had a chance to tie or win it at the buzzer.  "We had a lot of opportunities in the game to increase our lead or get defensive stops and we just couldn't execute them when we needed it most," commented Esry.  The loss moves his squad's record to 10-7 on the year.

 

Jalen Gant led the scoring for the Pirates with 20 points.  MJ Johnson also had a nice night contributing 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Demetrius Houston Jr. added 15 points. 

 

"We have to learn from this game and get better in the clutch time, especially when it gets crunch time down the stretch," remarked Esry.

 

The Pirates will be back on the court to try to improve on just that when they take on region foe St. Louis Community College.  That contest is set for Saturday, February 4th in St. Louis with a tipoff time of 3:00pm.
