Lincoln Land CC Too Much On The Road For The Pirates

Lincoln Land Community College got the best of the Pirates on Saturday afternoon taking a close 98-93 win.  The Pirates had defeated the Loggers by a score of 73-70 earlier in the year at home but simply couldn't pull off the series sweep on the road.

Scoring was not an issue for the Pirates.  Demetrious Houston Jr. led the way with 18 points.  Ryan Ward poured in 15 and Joshua Goss totaled 12.  On the defensive end is where the Pirates faltered.  "We just didn't execute down the stretch, especially on the defensive end.  We gave up a 10 point lead in the second half," commented Coach Esry of the defensive shortcomings.

The loss takes the team into the holiday break with an overall record of 6-4.  While this may not be the overall record they had hoped for, Coach Esry is proud of the effort and growth he has seen from his team but knows there is still much work to be done.  "In order for us to be a contender next semester, we are really going to have to buy-in to the defensive part of the game, box someone out and rebound."
