The NCMC Rocket League Esports team competed against Arcadia University in a nail biter on Thursday, September 26th. The Pirates defeated the Arcadia Knights three games to two in an intense five game match up. Below were the scores from each matchup.

Game 1:  Pirates 5, Knights 1

Game 2:  Knights 4, Pirates 2

Game 3:  Pirates 2, Knights 1

Game 4:  Knights 2, Pirates 1

Game 5:  Pirates 3, Knights 2

"There was never a dull moment in this match up; it was intense from the time the first game started to the time the final game ended.  Standing behind my players coaching it was like watching the NBA finals for me; the energy that was in the room was insane! Overall it was very exciting for everyone involved," commented Head Coach Chris Flowers of the back and forth affair.

Goals were scored by the following players:

Derick Lopez: 7

Mario Castaneda: 5

Damian Cortez: 1

"I've never seen my guys play like that before, they came out with such great intensity and fire.  They all communicated well, rotated each other out of goalie and did a very good job of scoring.  I am very proud of all three of them.  We needed this win going forward; it was definitely a confidence booster for us.  We came out and took care of business from the start," detailed Flowers.

Members of the team had these comments about the win.  "We didn't play as friends out there, we played as family and I'm glad I shared this win with my brothers," said Mario Castaneda.  "The coaches had us do goalie training every day at practice and it definitely payed off for Damian," added Derick Lopez.  "We had an insane amount of goalie saves and our defense was so much better this time around, we were ready," concluded Damian Cortez.

"We worked so hard in practice putting in the time for the drills, goalie training, and most importantly communication.  All of that showed results in this match up.  This is the best I've ever seen my Rocket League players play all season long.  When the final seconds of the final game rolled off the clock, it was thunderous in the eSports room.  People down the street could hear us jumping, chanting, and screaming as we celebrated our win as a team.  Every day the teams bond grows stronger and we become closer as a Pirate family with every day of practice.  I am blessed to have the group of players that I have," detailed Flowers of the winning celebration and tough work at practice that led to it.

NCMC will play again in Overwatch against University of Texas-Austin on Sunday at 3:00 pm.  Rocket League is back in action on Monday, September 30th.
