NCMC is now a member of the National Association for Esports (NACE), which is the NJCAA-recognized governing body for collegiate Esports. The college is recruiting to field a varsity team for 2019-2020. In its first year, NCMC will compete in Overwatch and Rocket League, but continues to evaluate other games eligible for competition through NACE. Cory Cooksey, Esports Director noted, "We had a core group interested in Esports last year, and we are expecting to fill some key positions on the team soon. We're excited to begin participating in intercollegiate competition this year." NCMC is the first Missouri community college to offer Esports for varsity competition. As a NACE member, NCMC will compete within the state of Missouri as well as nationally with both 2-year and 4-year collegiate programs.

"This is such a huge opportunity for a small community college like NCMC to be able to start this kind of varsity sport. It will be bringing even more exposure for NCMC and potential growth of our student body in the coming years," commented Chris Flowers, Esports Coach.
