Baseball Reaches 30 Wins, Splits Road Series With Moberly Area CC

Pirate's baseball concluded their Region 16 schedule on Friday and Saturday when they went 2-2 against Moberly Area CC.  The team, now 30-11 overall, has reached the 30-win mark for the first time in school history with three regular season games left on the schedule.  In region play, the Pirates finished the regular season with a record of 14-4 and will be the #1 seed in the Region 16 tournament.  That will be played at Burleigh Grimes Field from May 8-11.

 

In the 4-game set at Moberly, the duo of Jordi Ventura and Javier Suarez each knocked 7 hits for NCMC.  Homering for the Pirates were Ventura, Strader Richardson and Eduardo ChourioWilmer Jimenez also had a nice offensive series by driving in a team high 6 runs on his 5 hits.

 

On the mound, NCMC got a great start from Max Wagers in game two on Friday, tossing 7 innings and allowing just 2 earned runs.  Out of the bullpen, Wilmer Jimenez picked up saves in both games on Saturday to bring his season total to 6.  He totaled 2 IP with 4 strike outs.  Earning wins in relief appearances were sophomores Alex Smith and Ethan Walker.
