NCMC went on the road Monday and suffered an 8-5 defeat to State Fair CC. The Pirates are now 28-9 overall and ranked #24 in the latest NJCAA DII poll. Next up will be four road games with Moberly Area CC on Friday and Saturday. NCMC has already clinched the regular season region crown but will look to keep winning to improve their national ranking.
Against State Fair, NCMC showed flashes of offensive strength but ultimately fell short in an 8–5 loss. Wilmer Jimenez led the charge for the Pirates, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Jordi Ventura and Javier Suarez each added two hits, including doubles. Alejandro Paz and Chase Maddox chipped in RBIs to keep the game close early on. On the mound, Eric Torrero delivered a strong start with five shutout innings and four strikeouts, but the bullpen struggled, allowing eight runs over the next three innings. Despite a solid nine-hit performance from the offense, NCMC couldn't overcome a big sixth inning from State Fair.
