Hot Bats Power NCMC Baseball To Victory Over Metropolitan CC

NCMC's high powered offense carried them to victory on Tuesday at Metropolitan CC 16-9.  With the win, the 24th ranked Pirates are now 21-5 as they gear up for their first home Region 16 series on Saturday and Sunday against Moberly Area CC.

The potent Pirates were led by All-American Julio Guerrero who went 4-7 with a pair of home runs, 4 runs scored and 7 RBIs.  His batting average for the season is now up to team high .470 and he also leads the Pirates in runs scored (31).

Guerrero may have anchored the offense but there were plenty of other contributors.  Wilmer Jimenez homered, his 8th of the season, while going 3-5 with 3 RBIs.  Javier Suarez went 2-2 before coming out of the game in the first inning with an ankle injury.  Truman Bodenhausen, from the 9-hole, went 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  He is batting .429 for the year, second only to Guerrero on the team.  In total, the Pirates pounded out 19 hits in 9 innings.

Johanno Perdomo picked up the win for the Pirates with 3 scoreless innings of relief work.  He allowed no hits and struck out 2.  NCMC did commit a couple of costly errors in the first inning, which resulted in 3 unearned runs.  They also walked 12 Wolves batters, an area they will look to improve as the season progresses.
