Baseball Gets Off To Solid A Start To Their 2025 Season

NCMC baseball had a nice opening weekend of games in Tennessee and St. Louis.  They went 3-2 overall with their wins coming against Division I opponents Indian Hills CC, Missouri State University-West Plains and St. Charles CC.  The solid start against good competition bodes well for what the team has ahead of them this season.

Anchoring the offense was sophomore Jordi Ventura who went 7-17 with a pair of home runs and 7 RBIs.  He also scored a team high 5 runs in the opening 5 games.  Sophomores Alejandro Paz (6-15, 3 runs) and Truman Bodenhausen (3-7, 2 runs) also had nice opening weekends.  As a team, NCMC batted .278 including 10 extra base hits.

On the mound, NCMC got excellent starts from winners Hikaru Mikami (5.2 IP, 2 ER) and Max Wagers (5.0 IP, 1 ER).  Even in losing efforts, starters Luis Leon (5.0 IP, 2 ER) and Eric Torrero (4.0 IP, 2 ER) threw the ball well enough to win.  As a team, NCMC carried a 5.00 ERA through their first 5 games.

Next up is a road trip to Harrison, AR for 5 more games.  The series starts Friday and NCMC will face Western Technical College twice and host North Arkansas College three times.
