Pirates Can't Hold Early Lead In 11-8 Loss At John Wood CC

Despite taking an early lead, the NCMC Pirates fell to John Wood CC on the road Tuesday 11-8 which puts their season record at 9-8.  Their next action will be a weekend series in Alton, IL against Lewis & Clark CC.  First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader will be at 2:30pm and Sunday's games start at noon.

Freshman Eric Torrero got the start and took the loss for the Pirates.  He surrendered 5 runs in 3.1 innings.  He allowed 4 hits and walked 5.  Pitching nicely out of the bullpen was Ethan Walker.  He twirled the final 3.1 innings and didn't allow a hit or a run while striking out 6.

At the plate, Rawlins Brant had a nice game going 2-3 with a pair of walks and a runs scored.  Freshmen Jordi Ventura and Rafael Calcano each doubled in the game, the Pirate's only extra base hits.  Sophomore catcher Justin Dameron had a 2-3 day plus contributed a stolen base.

While NCMC outhit John Wood 12-11, free bases for the Trailblazers via walks and hit by pitch doomed the Pirates.
