Baseball Splits Road Scrimmage With Truman State

In a tough matchup on Saturday, NCMC baseball split a doubleheader with Truman State University.  The Pirates dropped the opener 6-1 before taking a weather shortened game two 8-1.  Next up for the Pirates will be another NCAA DII scrimmage challenge against William Jewell College on Saturday, Oct. 7th.

Jordi Ventura was a bright spot in the Pirates' lineup in the opener, contributing with both his bat and hustle on the basepaths. He managed to secure a hit and scored the lone run for NCMC.

Taking the loss on the mound was Kevin Toala.  He surrendered 1 run on a walk and a pair of Bulldog hits.  For the fall, his ERA now sits at 6.43.

The Pirate's offense came alive in game two.  Leading the way was Julio Guerrero who went 2-2 with a home run and 4 RBI's.  For the fall, he is hitting a solid .350 in 25 plate appearances.

Pirate's pitching held Truman State down by limiting the Bulldogs to just 3 hits and a single run.  Camden Lutz, coming off an ankle injury that had sidelined him earlier in the fall, earned the win by tossing a scoreless frame to start the game.  His fall ERA is 6.00.
