Pirates Get A Walk-Off Win Against East Central On Sophomore Day

Pirate's baseball lost 2 of 3 in their final Region 16 series of the regular season over the weekend.  NCMC's lone win, 8-7 in game two on Saturday, came in walk-off fashion in the 11th inning of a highly competitive game with East Central College.  The Falcons won the other two games 10-7 and 8-5.  NCMC concluded region play with a 6-6 mark. 

 

Tanner Wright provided the most offensive thump for the Pirates in the series.  He went 6-12 including 4 doubles and 7 RBIs.  Leading NCMC in runs scored was freshman Hagen McGarrah with 4.  Keaton Mudd supplied the walk-off heroics when he drove in freshman Rawlins Brant to seal NCMC's victory.

 

Evan Johnston continued to be the ace of the NCMC staff as he twirled 6.1 innings of relief, allowing 0 runs, to get the win.  He lowered his season ERA to 3.05 and pushed his team leading strike out total to 59.

 

The NCMC coaching staff and athletic department honored 22 sophomore players and managers prior to Saturday's games. 

 

Next up for the Pirates will be the NJCAA DII Region 16 Tournament, which will be held at East Central College May 5-7.  Cancelled are the Pirates final regular season home games against Metropolitan CC on Tuesday.
