Baseball Improves To 19-26 With Split Against State Fair CC

NCMC baseball split a pair of games with State Fair CC on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Pirates lost at State Fair on Tuesday 8-6 before rebounding for a 5-4 victory in front of the home crowd on Wednesday.  The team's record is now 19-26 ahead of an important home series this weekend with East Central College.  The Pirate's look to clinch the NJCAA DII Region 16 regular season crown with a 3-game sweep.

Against State Fair, sophomore pitcher Jaden Thacker earned Wednesday's win by tossing one inning of shutout relief.  Also throwing the ball well in the game was starter Layne Rutherford.  He pitched 5 innings and allowed just 1 run while striking out 8.

Tanner Wright had a strong offensive performance against the Roadrunners.  He went 5-9 with a home run and a pair of doubles.  He drove in 3 and scored 4 runs.  He pushed his season batting average to .303 and leads the Pirates with 6 homers.

Saturday the Pirates will celebrate the accomplishments of their 22 sophomore players and manager.  The ceremony will be held at 11:30am at Burleigh Grimes Field ahead of the games.
