Pirate's baseball improved to 4-0 at home this season after they downed Missouri Valley JV 7-0 and 11-2 on Tuesday. With the wins, the team now sits at 13-21 ahead of a 4-game road series with Hesston College. The Pirates dropped a pair to the Larks earlier this season in games played at Lathrop High School.
Against the Vikings on Tuesday, Edward Viloria had a nice afternoon with the bat. He went 3-7 with a triple and 4 RBIs. Sophomore catcher Daniel Mendez hit his first home run as a Pirate, a solo blast in the opener.
Earning wins on the mound were sophomores Nathan Fine (2-2) and Ramses Gutierrez (1-2). Fine was especially sharp in his outing, striking out 6 batters in 3 innings pitched.
The Pirates have now won 11 of their last 15 games and look to carry that momentum into the weekend.
