In baseball scrimmage action, the Pirates went on the road Tuesday and earned a split with Graceland University to move their fall record to 5-6-1. In the opener, NCMC fell 9-4 but rebounded for a 6-2 victory to close out the day. Their next action will be a road doubleheader on Saturday at Missouri Valley College.
Starring offensively was sophomore catcher Daniel Mendez. He had a clutch 2-RBI triple in game two which was a key to victory. Jesus Fonseca also stayed hot with the bat going 2-3 with a run scored.
On the mound, sophomore Bailey Quint dominated over two innings as the second game's starter. He struck out 4 Graceland batters and didn't surrender any hits. Kevin Toala took the loss in the opener, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in 2 innings pitched.
