Pirates baseball fell to State Fair CC on Tuesday 18-15 at Burleigh Grimes Field. The high scoring affair saw a total of 6 home runs and the Pirates squander a 7-0 first inning lead. With the loss, NCMC is now 12-25 ahead of a road 3-game series with East Central College on Thursday and Friday.
The Pirates offense outhit State Fair 15-11 but the errors committed by NCMC's defense, 6 in total, led to 10 unearned runs. Pirates pitching also set the table too often for the visiting Roadrunners, walking 9 batters and hitting another 3.
Leading NCMC's offensive charge was led by sophomore Noel Medina. He knocked a grand slam, scored a pair of runs and totaled 5 RBIs. Jesus Fonseca had a game high 4 hits and scored 2 runs. Bailey Quint went 3-5 with a homer and 4 RBIs.
Fonseca (0-2) took the loss on the mound, surrendering 3 runs in 1.2 innings of relief. He walked 3 batters and only gave up a single hit. All of the runs he allowed were unearned.
