Mixed Results For Pirates Baseball In Myrtle Beach

Pirates baseball went 3-4 on their spring trip south to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Following the trip, the team's overall record sits at 7-16 with their home opener against Dakota County Technical College next on the schedule.  First pitch for that Saturday, March 26th doubleheader is set for 1pm at Burleigh Grimes Field.

Leading the Pirates offensively on the trip was freshman Edward Viloria.  He collected 8 hits in 14 at bats plus scored 6 runs.  Also having a nice offensive trip was Layne Rutherford.  He batted .556 and drove home 4 runs for NCMC.  As a team, the Pirates batted .258 on the trip, averaging just over 5 runs per game.

 

On the mound, sophomore Mason Tharp continued to deal tossing 6.1 innings while allowing just 1 earned run between a start and a relief appearance.  He picked up two of the Pirates wins for his efforts and lowered his season ERA to 6.75.  Dylan Niemeyer earned NCMC's other win, also tossing 6.1 innings allowing just a single earned run in relief.
