Pirates Split With Hesston, Get Swept By Murray State

Pirates baseball went 1-3 this past weekend on their trip to Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK.  NCMC dropped both games against the Aggies and split with Hesston College.  Following the trip, the Pirates record sits at 2-6 with their next action coming this weekend when the play Redlands Community College in Joplin, MO on Sunday and Monday.

The Pirates offense mustered just 22 hits over the 4-game set.  Bailey Quint posted a .333 average for the weekend with a pair of runs scored and a pair of RBIs.  As a team NCMC struck out 32 times, a number they will look to improve upon as the season moves forward.

Getting the lone win of the weekend on the mound was reliever Kyle Stratman.  He pitched 0.2 innings and didn't allow a run.  Nathan Fine started the Pirates victory over the Larks, tossing 4 shutout innings but did not figure in the decision.  He maintained his perfect 0.00 season ERA through a total of 6.2 innings pitched.  As a staff, the Pirates have struggled with command out of the gate.  Through 8 games, the team has walked 49 batters and hit another 20 in 46 innings pitched.
