Pirates Baseball Win Streak At 8 Games: Sophomores Recognized

Pirates Baseball is on an eight game winning streak after sweeping this weekend's home series against visiting Dakota County Technical College.  Final scores Saturday were 6-4 & 11-10 with Sunday scores of 10-8 & 7-1.  NCMC's overall record sits at 23-16 with 7 regular season games remaining.

Pirates pitchers Keven Franco (6-1) and Jay Greco (6-2) each picked up wins this weekend to tie alum Nolberto Rondon for the single season wins record.  Franco struck out 10 in yet another dominating performance for the sophomore.  Greco also added a save to his stat line, his 3rd of the year.  Twirling a gem in game four was Dylan Niemeyer, going 7 innings allowing just 1 run in his complete game victory.

Offensively, Genesis Nunez had a huge weekend.  He went 8-15 with 7 runs and 8 RBIs.  Nunez also came up clutch for the Pirates on two occasions.  He hit the go ahead 2-run homerun in game one, proving to be the difference.  It was a walk-off 3-run HR in game three to give the Pirates the victory.

Sophomore Braedyn Brewer also shined at the plate going 6-13 with a pair of home runs plus 6 runs scored.  His season batting average is up to .377.

The Pirates administration and coaching staff honored 17 sophomore members of the team between games.  Their commitment to NCMC baseball and the outstanding example they set on campus is to be commended.
