Baseball Sweep Pushes Pirates Over .500

Pirates Baseball earned a big sweep of Hesston College on Sunday to push their season record to a game above .500 at 17-16.  Final scores for the day were 12-1 and 9-4, with Keven Franco (5-1) getting the win in the opener and Jay Greco (5-2) winning in relief in game two.  Each pitcher is a win away from tying the school's single season win mark held by Nolberto Rondon.

 

The Pirates offense carried the day hitting 7 homeruns in the doubleheader.  Leading the way was catcher Tanner Sears (3-7, 2 HR, 5 RBI) and utility man Nathaniel Lai (2-6, 2 HR, 3 RBI).  Collecting 3 hits and scoring 5 runs was SIU-Edwardsville commit Braedyn Brewer.  He also swiped 4 stolen bases.

 

Next action for NCMC will be a home doubleheader with Missouri Valley College JV on Wednesday.  First pitch is set for noon.
