NCMC baseball posted a road split Tuesday with Benedictine College JV to move their season record to 15-16. The Pirates earned the run-rule victory to start the day 14-3 but lost the back end of the doubleheader 16-7.
Having a nice offensive day for NCMC was Albert Gonzalez. He went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs, all in the opener. Also getting on track for the Pirates was Nathaniel Lai. His line in the doubleheader was 4-7 with 3 RBIs.
Dylan Niemeyer notched the win on the mound for NCMC. He tossed 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Yasser Rondon took the loss in game two, pitching 1.1 innings allowing 6 runs, all earned. He walked 4 batters for the Pirates pitching staff that struggled to throw strikes. On the day, NCMC handed out 17 free passes plus an additional 2 hit batsmen over 11 innings pitched.
Next action for the Pirates will be a home doubleheader with Hesston College on Saturday. First pitch at Burleigh Grimes Field is set for 2:00pm.
