Pirates Baseball went on the road Wednesday to Park University JV and earned a 16-7 victory. With the win, the Pirates are now 14-33 for the season. Next up is a home matchup Thursday with Missouri Valley College JV at 1:00pm.
Cash Miller got the start on the mound for the Pirates and surrendered 7 runs over 2.2 innings pitched. "Cash actually went out and threw the ball well for us. We made a tremendous amount of errors early in the game. Only 2 of his 7 runs were earned," commented Coach Suttenfield. In the game, the Pirates made 6 errors and had 2 passed balls.
The Pirates bullpen, and defense, righted the ship as the game progressed. Pharon Pilgrim tossed 3.1 innings in relief, not allowing a run, to earn the win. DeeJay Seelbach and Braedyn Brewer combined to throw the last 3 innings of scoreless ball, notching 4 strikeouts.
The Pirates offense was stagnate early but erupted for 10 runs in the 7th inning, securing the victory. Chris Hunter hit his first career home run, a grand slam, in that inning. He ended the game going 1-4, 2 runs and 5 RBIs. Also having a good offensive day was Peyton Seiz (2-4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs).
