Pirates Baseball kicked off their home slate of games Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of North Arkansas College. The Pirates took the opener 10-0 and pulled out a tight 8-7 win in game two. With the wins, NCMC now holds a record of 9-20 before a four game Region 16 set with 14th ranked Crowder College. The Pirates travel to Neosho on Thursday and play host to the Roughriders on Saturday.
Knocking a home run in game one to get the Pirates offense going was Kendrick Delima. He went 3-8 on the afternoon with 3 runs scored. His season homerun total sits at 7 which is just three shy of tying the single season Pirates team record.
Also having a nice offensive day was freshman Tyler Montgomery. He knocked in the run-rule walk off runs in the opener and finished the day 2-3, 3 RBIs and one HBP.
As a team, the Pirates hit .385 on the day.
Sophomore pitcher Brandon Whitehead notched the complete game shutout in the 10-0 win. This lowered his season ERA to 6.27 and marked his third complete game in a row, two of which were shutouts. His season record now sits at 3-4.
Clayton Bailey, despite not having his best outing of the year, picked up the win in game two. He allowed 3 runs, 2 of which were earned, in one inning of relief. Freshman Kohl Weber picked up his second save of the season by closing out the 8-7 victory.
