Pirates Take 10-4 Loss

The North Central Missouri College baseball team took a 10-4 loss Thursday against the Kansas City Royals Scout Team.  The game was played at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy field.  Pirates Athletic Hall of Fame member Cle Ross currently works as the Baseball Program Coordinator for that academy and helped to set up the contest.  Members of the organization's after school program were in attendance cheering on the Pirates.

The Pirates hung close with the Royals through six innings, trailing 5-4.  However, in the bottom of the seventh the Pirates defense letdown with a couple crucial errors that proved costly.  The Royals ended up scoring 4 runs to break the game open.

Kendrick Delima stayed hot for NCMC belting a 2-run homerun in the game.

The Pirates were also able to tour the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum prior to the baseball action.  The players viewed the exhibits and were able to sit through an educational movie which detailed the history of the leagues.

The Pirates still have two doubleheaders on the fall schedule against Highland Community College before concluding the season with the annual alumni game on October 20th.
