Pirates Baseball Falls At Home

NCMC Baseball lost a 6-5 decision at home on Thursday evening to Missouri Valley College.  With the loss, the Pirates fall record is now 3-4-1.  NCMC next competes on Saturday at the University of Missouri Science and Technology.

The Pirates took a 5-0 lead into the sixth inning but wouldn't score again.  Missouri Vallley came back to score 2 runs in the 6th inning, 3 in the 7th, and the game winner in the 9th inning.

Kendrick Delima led the Pirates offensively going 2-5 with a home run and 2 RBI's.  The Pirates offense as a team struck out 19 times in the game.

On the mound, the Pirates were let down by a defense that committed 10 errors.  They didn't help their cause by walking 9 Vikings' batters.  Pirates pitchers surrendered just 4 hits in defeat.

"The bottom line is we didn't play well enough in any facet of the game to win.  If you commit 10 errors, walk 9 batters and strike out 19 times you don't deserve to win," commented Coach Suttenfield.
