Pirates Get Home Sweep On Tuesday

Pirates Baseball opened their home slate of fall games with a sweep of Central Methodist University.  The Pirates earned a 7-3 victory in the opener and cruised to an 11-6 win in game two.  With the wins, the Pirates are now 2-3-1 in fall exhibition action.

The Pirates offense was anchored by sophomore Kendrick Delima in the first game.  He delivered 5 RBI's, including a 2-run home run in the first inning.  Pirates pitching only allowed one hit but walked six in the win.

Game two saw a more balanced attack from the Pirates.  11 runs came on 9 hits as the Pirates scored in every inning but one.  On the mound, the Pirates did not allow a run in six of the seven innings.  However, walks again were the weak point of the staff as they allowed seven more walks.

"Our offense started slow in the first game except for Kendrick.  He has been hot ever since arriving on campus.  It was nice to see consistent run scoring in the second game.  On the mound, our pitchers that threw strikes had great success.  Obviously if you can't command the strike zone, struggles will occur," commented Coach Suttenfield.

The Pirates hit the road on Thursday to take on Missouri Valley College.  First pitch is set for 5:30pm.
