Madera Sets School Record In Pirates Victory

Pirates Baseball earned an 11-6 road victory over Park University JV on Thursday.  Amexem Hamm got the win and moved his record on the season to 3-0.  He allowed 2 runs over 5 innings while striking out 5 and walking 6.  The Pirates overall record now sits at 14-32.

Offensively, the Pirates were led by shortstop Enrique Madera.  His 4-5 effort with 2 runs and 2 RBIs paced the Pirates 18 hit attack.  Additionally, Madera broke the school record for career hits with his single in the top of the 3rd inning.  He breaks Landon Figg's previous record of 131 career hits.  Fellow sophomore Connor Quick also tied the previous record in the game and is four hits behind Madera on the career list.

Next up is an important Region 16 series with St. Louis Community College.  Saturday will be Sophomore Day for the Pirates who will honor their 14 sophomore players between games of the doubleheader.  First pitch of the opening game is set for 1:00pm.
