Cap’n Patch and Pirate Baseball Players Visit Pleasant View Elementary

Cap'n Patch and members of the NCMC baseball program recently visited Pleasant View Elementary to read to the students and encourage them to have fun with their schooling.  "Having Cap 'n Patch and the baseball players visit with the students increased their excitement for learning and promoted reading in a unique, fun way. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more!" commented Dr. Kristen Alley, Dean of Student Affairs.  Dr. Alley's son attends the school.

Cap'n Patch, worn by freshman baseball player Lucas Hampton, loves encouraging young people.  "I really just have fun with the kids," commented Hampton.  Sophomore Drew Bunch and freshman Sam Lucas also attended the event.  "I plan to teach once I get done playing baseball and earn my degree so anytime I can interact with kids at the schools I jump on it," added Bunch.

Coach Hillerman is often looking for opportunities to get his players out in the community.  "These types of experiences are great for the young kids but also for our players.  Learning to be positive mentors to the youth and active members in the community are some additional lessons outside of baseball our coaching staff tries to teach," remarked Coach Hillerman.
