NCMC Women’s Golf Wins Back-To-Back NJCAA Region 16 Titles

The North Central Missouri College Women's Golf Team traveled to Danville, IL on April 23rd-25th to compete in the NJCAA Central District Championship hosted by Danville Area CC. NCMC Placed 3rd in the Central District behind John A. Logan and Rend Lake but beat Crowder and Metropolitan CC to win the NJCAA Region 16 title for the second straight year.  The NCMC Women posted a Day 1 score of 409 but improved by 25 shots in the Final Round shooting a team score of 384. "Huge Thanks to Michael Smith at Turtle Run Golf Club for hosting a terrific District event. The Course was in great shape and played fair for the entire tournament field. I'm so proud of this group for the work that they have been put in this year. We knew coming into August that this team was going to be special and they stuck together and became one of the most family like teams that I have ever been a part of."

Leading the way for NCMC was Kennedy Dickerson who finished 9th in the Central District and earning 1st Team All Region honors. Dickerson shot an opening round 96 but rebounded and shot her personal best score as a Pirate with a nice score of 88. "What a year Kennedy had, for her to come in as a Freshman and have the success she had was very impressive to watch. She has improved significantly on her Driver and short game since August and I'm extremely proud of how she never got rattled on the golf course. It a hard thing to do in golf but her mental toughness was outstanding and I'm intrigued to see how much she can improve over the Summer." Lexi Hutton also earned 1st All Region Status by finishing T11th in the District and shooting a 36-hole score of 191. "Lexi has come a long way since she was a Freshman and I'm glad she was able to finish her last year as a Pirate with a solid District finish. She was so much fun to work and joins an elite group of being a two time 1st Team All Region honoree. I'm extremely proud of the career that she had."

ReaLee Smith and Haley Baskett placed in 17th and T20th respectively for NCMC. Smith shot a two-day score of 205 and Baskett finished with a 36-hole tally of 213. "I'm very proud of our other two Freshman ReaLee and Haley this year. They both had a lot of individual success and learned a lot about themselves and what areas they need to improve upon over the Summer. They got a lot of experience by seeing some tough and long golf courses. Hopefully they use that to help the incoming Freshman out this August and we have not saw the best from those two yet." Brianna Filley rounded out the Pirate scoring finishing in 24th place and improving her Day 1 to Day 2 score by 17 shots. "Brianna had a great year and should be proud. She has only played for 3 years and made a lot of good steps for us since August. She is a great teammate and more importantly a better person. I wish I could get another year with the sophomores but I'm excited to see Brianna and Lexi succeed in whatever they chose to do in life"

The NCMC Women's golf team will return Kennedy, Haley, and ReaLee in addition to 4 other incoming Freshman this August.
