Women's Golf NJCAA Region XVI Tournament Results

The NJCAA Region XVI Women's Golf Tournament was contested at Excelsior Springs Golf Club on Monday.  Originally, the event was to be a 2-day tournament but due to snow on Tuesday it was shortened to just 18 holes.  NCMC placed second with a team score of 411; Metropolitan Community College won the event with a score of 376.

No NCMC golfers will be making their way to the NJCAA National Tournament this year.  Leading the way for NCMC and earning All-Region honors was Emily Long with a 3rd place showing, shooting +23 and 8 strokes behind the two MCC players who tied for medalist.  Also earning All-Region distinction was Sara Golden with a 4th place finish at +25.

Here were Head Coach Daniel Cordray's comments about the event.  "We struggled a bit with the length of the course, weather, and some nerves it seemed.  Throughout the year we definitely learned things individually that we need to work on for this upcoming year to get to where we need to be to compete for a region title.  As a team we have to get to where we can consistently be at 370 or better to really be competitive.  We have some freshmen coming in that I look to be directly in the mix of challenging our returners."
