Lady Pirates Get On Track With A Sweep In The NCMC Classic

The NCMC women's basketball team swept the NCMC Classic this weekend to improve to 2-1 for the season.  The 12th ranked Lady Pirates dismissed Iowa Western CC 75-43 on Friday before downing Neosho County CC 109-85 on Saturday.  Their next action will be in the FCA Canned Food Drive game Wednesday in the Ketcham Community Center.  They will host Southwestern CC and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Free Admission.

The contest with Iowa Western CC saw a very balanced attack from the Lady Pirates.  Honor Mannings off the bench (13 points) and starter Jessica Reeter (11 points) were the only players from NCMC to reach double figures.  Reeter also dominated the glass from the guard position, pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double.  NCMC's real key to victory was their stifling defense, holding the Reivers to just 25% shooting in the game.

Points were easier to come by in Saturday's dominating victory.  Six Lady Pirates reached double digits, led by Reeter's game high 26 points.  As a team, NCMC shot 55% to just 34% for the visitor.  Abbi Fountain dominated the glass pulling down 13 rebounds in the win.
