In a lopsided affair, the 9th ranked NCMC women's basketball team secured victory against William Penn JV 74-34 on Tuesday.  With the win, the Lady Pirates improved to 20-4 on the season with their next matchup coming at home on Thursday against Westminster College JV.  Tipoff for that game is at 7:00pm, the back end of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader.

 

NCMC's performance Tuesday was well balanced, with all NCMC players contributing and scoring in the game.  Nateonia Russell's performance in the starting lineup was instrumental in North Central Missouri's success. Russell's efficient shooting, particularly in the paint, resulted in a 4-of-6 field goal conversion, and her tenacity on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds, showcased her impact on both ends of the court. Additionally, Russell contributed three assists and two steals, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to facilitating the team's success.

 

Jessica Reeter, another starter, displayed her scoring prowess by connecting on 4 of 7 field goal attempts, including two three-pointers. Reeter's ability to stretch the floor and contribute on the glass (six rebounds) highlighted her well-rounded game. Her three assists also played a crucial role in facilitating ball movement and generating scoring opportunities.

 

Mary Copeland, a force in the paint, displayed efficiency in her shooting, converting 5 of 8 field goals. Copeland's presence on the boards, securing six rebounds, combined with her defensive efforts (two blocks), made a significant impact on both ends of the floor. Her performance contributed to the Lady Pirate's dominance in rebounding.

 

Off the bench, A'Myah Bankston provided a spark, contributing 7 points. Bankston's scoring ability and energy were evident in her performance, providing valuable support to the team's offensive efforts.

 

The team's overall shooting percentage of 43.1% demonstrated their ability to convert scoring opportunities, while the tenacious defense, accumulating nine steals and nine blocks, highlighted their commitment on the defensive end.
