Lady Pirates Stay Perfect In Region 16 Play On Sophomore Day

With a stifling defense, the 8th ranked North Central Missouri College women's basketball team dominated Metropolitan Community College, securing a convincing victory with a final score of 78-44. The Lady Pirate's balanced offensive attack, combined with tenacious defense, proved to be the key factors in this lopsided contest which kept NCMC's record perfect against Region 16 opponents.  Next up will be a Tuesday home matchup with William Penn JV where the Lady Pirates will look to keep their 6-game winning streak alive.

Jessica Reeter led the scoring charge for North Central Missouri, showcasing her shooting prowess with 14 points, including four three-pointers. Reeter's ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots from beyond the arc created matchup challenges for the opposing defense. The team's leading rebounder was Gladys Brown, who contributed 11 points and played a crucial role on the boards with 7 rebounds off the bench.

The starting lineup, featuring Tori Meinecke, Nateonia Russell, Bailey Fleming, Mary Copeland, and Jessica Reeter, displayed excellent chemistry and coordination on both ends of the court. Russell's well-rounded performance included 9 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds, highlighting her impact on various facets of the game. Mary Copeland added 8 points and contributed significantly to the team's rebounding efforts.

The bench players also made valuable contributions, with A'Myah Bankston scoring 10 points and LaKorria Brown adding 12 points, including four three-pointers. The depth and versatility of NCMC's roster were evident as multiple players stepped up to make an impact.  Metropolitan on the other hand lacked the depth of the Lady Pirates.

Defensively, North Central Missouri College muted Metropolitan CC, holding them to a mere 22.6% shooting from the field. The team's collective effort, with 12 steals and 2 blocks, showcased their commitment to disrupting the opponent's offensive flow.

Four NCMC sophomores were recognized on Saturday for their contributions to the program.  They included Tori Meinecke, Nateonia Russell, Mary Copeland and Kiara Franklin.
