Defensive Effort Leads 4th Ranked Lady Pirates To Win Over KCKCC

In a defensive showdown, 4th ranked North Central Missouri College women's basketball emerged victorious against Kansas City Kansas Community College with a final score of 51-45 in a game characterized by strong defensive efforts.  The win turns the page on the team's first loss of the season from Monday in a road showdown with 2nd ranked Johnson County CC.  Next up will be a home game on Thursday with Missouri Valley College JV.

 

Tori Meinecke led the charge for the Lady Pirates with a double-double performance, scoring 16 points and securing an impressive 11 rebounds. Her presence in the paint was vital, contributing significantly to both offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

 

Gladys Brown provided a spark off the bench, tallying 11 points, with her contributions including key free throws down the stretch that helped maintain NCMC's lead.

 

Nateonia Russell was a force on the defensive end, collecting 7 rebounds and contributing 6 points while displaying active defensive play, gathering 4 steals throughout the contest.

 

Despite a challenging shooting night, with a field goal percentage of 29.6%, the Lady Pirate's defensive resilience and ability to convert free throws under pressure, shooting 65.2% from the charity stripe, allowed them to secure the hard-fought victory.

 

The team showcased remarkable determination and solid defensive strategies, limiting their opponents to a mere 37.3% shooting from the field and an astonishingly low 6.7% from beyond the arc, ultimately clinching a well-deserved win against KCKCC.
