9th Ranked Lady Pirates Dismiss Jefferson College 83-66

In a competitive Region 16 matchup, the 9th ranked Lady Pirates secured a well-deserved victory against Jefferson College with a final score of 83-66 on Friday. The game displayed North Central Missouri's offensive efficiency, with multiple players making significant contributions.  An especially strong 3rd quarter in which NCMC outstored JeffCo 29-14, proved to be decisive.

 

Mary Copeland had a standout performance, leading NCMC in scoring with an impressive 16 points. Copeland's ability to dominate in the paint and contribute on both ends of the court played a crucial role in the team's success. Tori Meinecke also had a strong showing, recording 11 points and showcasing her rebounding prowess with five boards.

 

The backcourt duo of Nateonia Russell and Jessica Reeter displayed excellent teamwork, combining for 21 points and demonstrating their playmaking skills with a total of nine assists. Russell's scoring efficiency, shooting 5-of-6 from the field, was a key factor in the Lady Pirate's offensive success.

 

The bench proved to be a valuable asset as well, with Gladys Brown providing a spark with 13 points, including two three-pointers. Jacie Morris and A'Myah Bankston also made significant contributions off the bench, further highlighting the team's depth.

 

Defensively, the Lady Pirates demonstrated discipline, committing only 16 personal fouls throughout the game. Their ability to limit Jefferson's offensive opportunities and force turnovers contributed to their overall success.

 

For Jefferson College, Josie Allen led the scoring efforts with 16 points, while Jakayla Kirk contributed 13 points. Despite their efforts, NCMC's well-rounded performance and effective ball distribution ultimately secured the victory.

 

Next up for the Lady Pirates will be a home game Tuesday with Missouri Valley College JV.  Tipoff is set for 5:30pm in the Ketcham Community Center.
