Lady Pirates Fight Hard For 59-43 Victory Over Allen County

In a game that showcased a competitive clash, 12th ranked North Central Missouri College secured a hard-fought home victory against Allen County Community College with a final score of 59-43.  With the win, NCMC is now 11-2 with a road matchup against John Wood CC next on the schedule.  The Lady Pirates will look to sweep that season series after notching a home victory over the Trailblazers 80-57 back in November.

 

Despite falling behind early and trailing by 4 points at halftime, NCMC dug deep to secure the victory.  The Lady Pirate's Mary Copeland emerged as the standout performer, leading the scoring with an impressive 21 points. Copeland showcased incredible accuracy from the field, going 7-of-12 while also contributing significantly on the boards with 9 rebounds. Her well-rounded performance played a pivotal role in guiding her team to victory.

 

The supporting cast for NCMC also made noteworthy contributions. Gladys Brown and LaKorria Brown combined for 19 points off the bench, exhibiting their shooting prowess and valuable offensive contributions. Additionally, Bailey Fleming added 5 points while providing solid defensive efforts.

 

The team displayed impressive defensive tenacity, holding Allen County to a mere 28.0% shooting from the field. NCMC's defensive unit, guided by strong performances from Nateonia Russell and Jessica Reeter, limited the opposition's scoring opportunities and forced turnovers.

 

The visiting Red Devils faced shooting struggles throughout the game, with Khamille Warr as their leading scorer, contributing 16 points and 14 rebounds. However, the Lady Pirate's resolute defense minimized their opponent's offensive impact, securing a well-deserved victory.
